Overview

Before writing, the user (Community Writer) is given information about the writing guidelines (Panduan Menulis) so that their writing complies with the provisions and is published by the Editor.

Problem

Community Writers do not understand the term "Community Guide" on the IDN Times Community Dashboard page. As a result, it turns out that there are so many articles that need to be revised by the editor or rejected because the articles do not meet the guidelines.

Proposed Solutions

  • Delivering important information about the article curation by IDN Times Editor.
  • Emphasize the Community Writer to read the writing guide before submitting an article.

Objectives

  • Guiding users to write according to the provisions of IDN Times.
  • Reduce complaints related to pending articles.

Research

Method

  • Interviewed 5 new Community Writers (submitted at least 1 article in the last 1 month) who submitted posts via the IDN App.
  • Interviewed the Community Admin team about complaints related to pending articles.


Interview result

  • Community Writers always feel anxious, because their articles don't get clear status for more than 2 weeks (published or rejected).
  • From in Community Writer's perspective, the information in the alert box on the writing page on the IDN App says that the Editor must review every submitted article.


Feedback from the Community Admin

  • The displayed copy seems to overpromise. Community Writers think their article will definitely be published by the Editor. In fact, according to the provisions of the IDN Times Community, the submitted articles will be moderated by the Editor and will be published in IDN Times ONLY IF they meet the editorial's requirements. This impression arises because of the large number of "akan" words that appear in the copy.

Final Copy

From the results of interviews with users and Community Admins, the problem that I found was that the copy in the information box was not clear and firm so users felt confused and submitted many complaints to the IDN Times Community. So, I tried changing the copy like this:

Title

Replaced with a context that is more in line with user needs. The term 'tips' is more suitable with the context because the users need guidelines so that their article will not be pending for too long.

Description

Copy formula:

  • The first sentence highlights the requirements of the article that will be published by the Editor so that there is no overpromising impression.
  • Provide directions and solutions for users to read the "Panduan Menulis" before submitting the article.

Button

Added a button that will direct the user to the "Panduan Menulis" page so that it is easier for them to read all the writing requirements.
